Hey there, thanks for visiting. Figured I'd write something by way of introduction since there was a blank slate just sitting there!
Recently joined here since most of the art work and drawings I have uploaded have been sitting in the back corner of a closet for years and deserved better than that (in my opinion). I'm pretty much self-taught and have been drawing since I could hold a crayon. I did take a couple of classes over the years. During elementary school, I took a class at the Berkshire Museum where they basically set taxidermied critters in front of us and let us go at it with watercolors, don't remember any actual "instruction" but that was a long time ago. I also took a figure drawing class in college as an elective but that is the full extent of my formal training.
I tend these days to approach my drawing with sort of a residual punk rock aesthetic in that I basically sit down and start drawing with little to no idea where I'm going and little regard for attaining "perfection", just draw for the sake of drawing and hopefully progressing in some way towards expressing my vision and communicating something or other through that progression. Just draw...
Speaking of punk rock aesthetics, I've also hummed tunes in me head since I figured out how the vocal chords worked and since I'm also a lover of words have been writing songs for nearly as long. My approach there is similar to my approach here. I had some basic music training, a year of guitar in the late '60s, and a music theory course in college (which I promptly forgot) and have just been wending my way forward ever since. We are, all of us, creative creatures in my mind and should just express ourselves any way we can. Again, thanks for visiting (and reading these ramblings) and....
